Introducing LEON CHASE
Leon Chase is the brainchild of Pasteman and Tanka and is the new outlet for the duo's deeper, darker music. With a release already slated on Overcooked Records in 2012 it looks like things are really going to go off for these guys.
Leon Chase - Do Without You [forthcoming on Overcooked Records]
Until then, here a couple of free remixes by Leon Chase for you to download and dance to.

Switch - I Still Love You (Leon Chase Remix)
Featuring THE WEEKND
Canada has had quite a successful year with artists like Jacques Greene, Lunice, Ango and Drake really highlighting North America's untapped musical resource. It's hard in a country that is famous for Ice Hockey, Mounties and Celine Dion to get some serious recognition even if you are signed to a successful label but try doing it on your own with no financial backing.
That is where The Weeknd come in.
D.D - The Weeknd
Abel Tesfaye is the man behind the moniker and with part three of his mixtape trilogy Echoes of Silence available this week, again for free, he has fully gained the attention of the world. Check out the latest release plus Thursday and House of Balloons via The Weeknd website (all for free) and play them for the ladies.

Introducing HINGE FINGER
This picture plus a mix were all that appeared on Will Bankhead's Trilogy Tapes blog to announce the launch of his new project with Joy Orbison. Hinge Finger is the name and it's a new label from the Honest Jons group. No releases have been announced, no clue to artists affiliated to the label or even a track-listing for the mix.
Why is this so interesting then? This mix is brilliant. Once again, Joy Orbison lives up to the hype.

Introducing LOCKED GROOVE
It seems that this year there has been very little Hotflush material that we haven't mentioned on the blog, a testament of course to the quality control that Scuba exercises as a label manager. The first release of 2012, and in fact the first release this artist has had, will be in the form of a 12" from Belgium's Locked Groove.
We are informed that Tim van de Meutter hasn't been producing in this style for very long but it is impossible to tell by these three tracks. The nine minute long 'Rooted' signals this as a no-nonsense release. A gentle intro with floating keys soon descends into a brutal and acidic groove, made complete by slightly screechy samples and a steady four to the floor. 'Drowning' leaves any niceties behind and taps into the Berghain links that Scuba has formed over the last couple of years. And finally, a slower and more appeasing track entitled 'Change' rounds off this carefully crafted trio of tunes.
Rooted EP - Locked Groove [forthcoming Hotflush]
It won't be long before you can get hold of these, HFT20 will be available on 16th January 2011 from Juno.

Introducing SHOOTING HORSES
This post has been a long time coming (this isn't the first time Shooting Horses has had a track posted by us) but now we feel it's a fitting time to properly introduce this super tight producer ahead of his debut EP on DubNoir Music.
Today is one of those exciting days when we get to give away a fine piece of dance music, possibly even first ones on the internet to do so. The reason this track is so special is because, not only has it had heavy rotation with serious volume on our own system but whenever we've played this track out someone has asked afterwards what it is. It especially goes down towards the end of a set at about 3am! Bouncy, energetic, catchy etc...
Khrushchev - Shooting Horses
And another freebie which we asked for a special dub version of...
The Way (Shooting Horses Dub) - Purpl Pop
Now onto the other news... January sees a release from SH which features 3 originals and a remix from the ever-so crisp New Zealand brotherly duo Chaos In The CBD - which is highly recommended by us.

Featuring DISCLOSURE
Since we first introduced Disclosure earlier this year, brothers Guy and Lawrence Howard have really started to gain momentum. The London duo put out their debut single Carnival to quite a warm response from DJs and critics alike and they have followed that up with Offline Dexterity plus some serious remixes of Emeli Sande and Q-Tip, giving them some well-deserved air time on Rinse and Radio 1.
Emeli Sandé - Daddy (Disclosure Remix) [Virgin Records]
Their follow up single 'Tenderly' b/w 'Flow' is due out at the end of January on 7" vinyl from Make Mine. The A-side lives up to all expectations but sadly there is no preview for the B-side. However, if you do pre-order the record you can download 'Tenderly' today, giving you a serious incentive to get yourself an early Xmas present.
Disclosure - Tenderly [forthcoming Make Mine]
If you want to hear more from Disclosure you can download the 5-track digital version of the Carnival EP for free through their Facebook page plus there is the fantastic Q-Tip remix below for your downloading pleasure. These guys are tipped for big things so keep it locked.

Introducing CLOSE
Close is the latest mysterious side project with no face, and we’re pretty sure it’s coming out of the UK. The internet is so fickle these days this method seems to be the best way to grab an audience and for that audience to actually pay attention for more than 2 seconds.
We’re told that it’s one artist who wishes to remain unidentified with a forthcoming LP named ‘Getting Closer’ which mainly features collaborations etc, some of whom have been named as Scuba, Appleblim and Ewan Pearson.
It’s possible to check three previews on their website and the first track which you can take away with you, is available below.
Crystalfilm (Close Remix) – Little Dragon
Let’s hope the music lives up to big glossy pictures.

Introducing SHADES OF GREY
Diverse line ups, sell out parties and a couple of talented residents - if anyone's wondering how to enter the London market, that's a pretty good start.
So far Shades of Grey have had the likes of Sigha, Pariah, Randomer and Two Inch Punch grace the decks at their first few events so keep your eye out for future dates plus there's also a record label on the way. The first release, a stand-out 6 track EP, is set for 16th January and is by an artist who goes by the name of Fybe:one. Check it below.
01. Suffocate
02. Harmonic Curve
03. Aeolian
04. So What
05. Kora
06. Enclosed
Harp EP - Fybe:one [forthcoming Shades of Grey]
While you wait for that, get this excellent track from one of their crew, Owen Howells. It's on a misty rolling vibe, all held together by a crisp crack before breaking down and returning with the energy up a level. As it draws to a close, the soundscape is surrounded by electronic lazer sounds as if to effortlessly say, "journey's over now, until next time". One of the best free tracks we've personally been sent in a while. More please.

Featuring NUMBERS
It has been a big year for Glasgow's own Numbers. With label bosses like Jackmaster and Spencer (to name just two) it's no surprise that they are at the forefront of the Bass scene. With excellent releases this year from artists like Mosca, Jamie XX, Deadboy, Pierre's Pfantasy Club and Goldffinch accompanying their club nights and RinseFM show things can only really continue to go up.
Randomer - Real Talk EP [Numbers]
This week saw the release of Randomer's debut on the label, the three track barrage that is the Real Talk EP. This sees the DnB producer move away from hits roots and really delve into the ever expanding Techno infused bass music. Things get serious right from the off as the title track kicks in with some seriously hard-hitting drums to accompany a very grimy bassline. Next "Lime Pie" comes up with a little acid to juice up your evening which is followed by another drum heavy track "Stalker". If you like what Blawan has been putting out recently this is definitely going to be up your street.
Sibian & Faun - I'm Sorry [forthcoming Numbers]
Next up for the Numbers crew is a release from Canadian duo, Sibian & Faun who are set to release I'm Sorry, a single track of RnB goodness that is sure to get bodies grinding on the dance floor. In there own words, “In terms of our production ‘I’m Sorry’ marks a turning point. After a summer of making really positive music, winter came and sort of switched things up on us. At the time it was this really dark and intimate track; no synth, no crunchy bass. But we kept coming back to it and it grew.”.
Redinho - Stay Together [forthcoming Numbers]
The labels last release of the year will be Stay Together, a single track teaser taken from next years debut album by Redinho, which from first listen sounds like it's going to be totally insane, in the best of ways.
Both of these single track releases by Sibian & Faun and Redinho are both available digitally and on limited 12" next Monday December 5th from our friends at Juno.

Featuring FUTUREBOOGIE
Futureboogie need little introduction. Of late, the Bristol label's unique sound has not so much been knocking on the overcrowded house scene's door as actually smashing it down. They are increasingly venturing out from the comfort of their home town to conquer London and the North, ably assisted by flag bearers that include Bonobo, Bashmore, Crazy P and recent HH mix-men Behling & Simpson.
Futureboogie's most recent release is this 3-track EP, Maison du Cheval - an excellent donation from local Bristol boys and label stalwarts Christophe and Lukas. They join forces on the opening track 'Teardrops' to create a soaring, synthy tune that feels something quite similar to riding an 80s Cheval: different gear.
Teardrops - Christophe & Lukas [forthcoming Futureboogie]
No. 2 is another belter, this time from Lukas on his lonesome. 'Reel Love' has all the right Detroit ingredients but you can't help thinking it's a cut above at least a lot of the rest of recent songs that have been stuck mercilessly into that category. It builds beautifully, driven on by sensational piano riffs and vocals.
Reel Love - Lukas [forthcoming Futureboogie]
Christophe ensures there is no respite with a terrific, deep offering that uses up-and-down piano/xylophone motif and a purposeful, relentless bassline to keep energy levels high right to the end of an EP that gives us a very enjoyable quarter of an hour or so.
Stalker - Christophe [forthcoming Futureboogie]
Keep an eye out for a Futureboogie party near you.
