Introducing POLYKICKS

Next week sees the hotly anticipated debut release from Tessela on his own Poly Kicks imprint.

Expanding on the breaks style he explored on his remix for Djrum, 'Hackney Parrot' takes you all the way back to the early sounds of UK hardcore but still preserves the 21st century low-end subs we know and love.

Turiya (Tessela Remix) - DjRUM [2nd Drop Records]

'Helter Skelter' comes from more of a Moving Shadow or Metalheadz direction but still maintains that rhythmic, bass heavy vibe we have come to expect from Tessela and really highlights his production skills.

Hackney Parrot / Helter Skelter - Tessela [Poly Kicks]

You can pre-order the wax from Surus right now, with just 'Hackney Parrot' being made available digitally from the 18th of March.

Introducing SPECIAL REQUEST

Special Request is another alias of Paul Woolford, whose Stolen release on Hotflush Recordings was a personal highlight of 2011. This new guise is heavily inspired by pirate radio, and the first two white label releases take a twisted approach to house, techno and breakbeat. 'Lolitia' is a standout warehouse techno stomper, and EP 2 features a killer remix from Kassem Mosse and Mix Mup.

Lolita / Alone / Lolita Dub / Deflowered (Kassem Mosse and Mix Mup Remix) - Special Request [White Label]

His most recent outing sees a warped rework of Daniel Avery's 'Taste' released on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound label. Its infectious rolling break and jittery metallic stabs make it a sure-fire head nodder. As per the previous releases it's strictly limited, but unfortunately doesn't include the original. There's sure to be lots more music from Woolford in the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled for his DJ sets and a forthcoming original named 'Mindwash' from Special Request.

Taste (Special Request Remix) - Daniel Avery [Phantasy Sound]

Snap it up quickly from Juno.

Featuring RACK N RUIN

With critical acclaim in the press and support from the likes of Boy-8-Bit, Annie Mac and Toddla T, the young London-based producer has already had his latest release labeled as a certified summer hit, and that, is just what it is.

The ‘Soundclash EP', which was released on June 28th on Black Butter Records, boasts four original compositions with two additional mixes that cater to all dance-floor desires. The record is an impressive, eclectic blend of House, old-skool Breaks, Dubstep and Jungle, providing a powerful backdrop for the dramatic synth lines and smooth female vocals, which tie each track together. Stand out tracks, ‘Midnight Loving’ and ‘Deep And True’ hold a slightly more pop based feel to their production however both are still driven by emphatic bass-lines.

Soundclash (Feat. Jessie Ware) - Rack N Ruin

Deep & True (Feat. Janai & Alphasounds) - Rack N Ruin

Dazed And Confused (Feat. Janai & Illaman) - Rack N Ruin [RUDEEE]

The release is available to purchase at Beatport, Chemical, Juno and Juno Download.

Effectively this record is self-explanatory simply from it’s title, a chaotic cocktail of sound that encompasses influences from the past to highlight the forward-thinking talent of Rack N Ruin. Look out for an exclusive mix from the man himself round these parts soon.

Are you from the future?

Excision? I'm sure many of you are familiar with this name, if you're not - you should be. For a little introduction, check here. His label Rottun Recordings has recently taken a grip of the Dubstep charts with a huge filthy futuristic sound. All the tracks catch the ear off guard with heavy robotic basslines which have been mixed down and mastered perfectly. Here's a dubstep/electro/breaks hybrid which he's letting out for free but it is infact on the first release on his new label, EX7, backed with Ying Yang (big tune). Definitely one for those breaks fans out there...

Obvious - Excision [RUDEEE]

Now, check this for a tracklisting, recorded live at this years Shambhala Festival in Canada. From what I've heard, everybody needs to make an effort to get to this sometime in the future, and from the sound of this mix which got rinsed on a 100k soundsystem, well, just try it and see...

"Such a filthy mindblowing mix. I need a shower."

Introducing FULL SPEKTRUM

South London based producer Full Spektrum began making music in 2003. Having grown up with early Jungle and Hardcore, he moved into production as the equipment became more affordable and began learning production techniques making D&B as well as experimenting with other music styles. Dubstep music provided him with a mixture of deep, dark vibes which he loved from the early Jungle days while also being able to keep very broad experimental elements to the music. Since producing Dubstep, his sound has developed into a more individual style, fusing old skool breakbeats and funk loops, with deep, atmospheric soundscapes.

Check the myspace for lots more information on what's been released and what's forthcoming. Here we have a few of his remixes from the past couple of years which he's been given permission to let out for people to play rather than them rotting on his hard drive. All fit in the 140bpm bracket but there's a huge range in production styles. Starting off chilled with a sick little womp...

Summervibes (Full Spektrum Remix) - Twisted

Cinematic vibes coming off this one, definitely a few Drum n Bass influences mixed with some big room Breaksie sounds.

Virus (Full Spektrum Remix) - Phaeleh

This last one is Plumps with a futuristic twist...

Future Past (Full Spektrum Remix) - Blackmass Plastic

These were my favourite 3 out of the 5 but you can pick up the whole release here.

Monday

Summer's coming...

So I finish my exams on Wednesday, which is an excellent thing as Corsica Studios on Thursday is going to be wicked good fun. I haven't done very much work for them, considering they're retakes you would have thought I'd learn but it seems I haven't. Nevermind! Anyways I know you've all been waiting patiently...

I think this may have slipped under the radar... always room for a bit of Fake Blood in my iTunes. He needs to put out a few more tunes though - is the trouble with playing shit loadsa dates.

Animal (Fake Blood Remix) - Miike Snow
Animal (Crookers Remix) - Miike Snow

A1 Bassline is at the top of the game when it comes to remixing. I reckon he can remix a song in a night and get it pretty much spot on. Get the feeling he knows exactly what he's doing. Also, his Summer Mixtape has jus dropped on Palms Out so head over there and pick it up. Been waiting for this one since I saw it on a mix a while ago. Andy George's remix has sposed to be coming out for ages, no sign of it yet though.

Chin Up (A1 Bassline Remix) - Rochelle
Chin Up (Andy George Remix) - Rochelle

Nadastrom are still on top form. This tune has huge vibes. I wanna hear it on Fabric's room 1 system! Back to the middle and round again.

Juke Dat Girl (Nadastrom Remix) - DJ Gant-Man

More thumping beats from Cold Blank, this time remixing the sound of summer 2007. Well maybe bit before that but I saw Does It Offend You, Yeah? at Reading 07. They were one of the only bands I watched and they were fucking sick!

We Are Rockstars (Cold Blank Remix) - Does It Offend You, Yeah?

I think the Dead Fish crew are gonna takeover these coming months if they keep up this biz. This track's been getting Crookers love and quite rightly too. Bounce now.

Love Story (Solo Bootyleg) - Layo & Bushwacka!

We haven't had any breaks around here for a while, or at least at all. You may say it's dead but... this is a lovely tune. Whatever type of music you're into, you should appreciate this!

City Life - Bruno Neto

I'm sure I've heard this tune before so maybe it's been around a while or summink but one things for sure, this is a summer party tune!

Beautiful Shadow (Santiago & Bushido Remix) - Prarie Cartel

And lastly, this tune is coming out sometime soon. Mixed reaction so far. After having a few more listens, I've decided I like it but only after 3min40. Therefore the build up is way too long and the good stuff doesn't last long enough! Head over to the facebook page and tell us what you think. Do you hate it?

Supernova (Doorly Remix) - Mr Hudson & Kanye West

That was gonna be the last one but, this one's growing on me. Bonus!

Boyz (Dub & Run) - M.I.A

Cheeky little interview up tomorrow and brand spanking new mix soon. Hold tight!
