Jack Dixon & Rick Grant - Running Man EP
Jack Dixon & Rick Grant - Running Man EP [Man Make Music]
The second release on George Fitzgerald's Man Make Music label is a collaborative effort by the ever quality Jack Dixon, who we introduced in January last year, and one of TAKE Records head honchos, Rick Grant. These tracks are very different to Dixon's previous releases and the collaboration with Rick Grant really explores the House side to his style.
The title track really is a smooth, synth laden track that is firmly rooted in the Detroit House sound but blended with a 2-step groove that delivers a funky beat you find yourself subconsciously nodding your head to. The second track, "Muted", is a little more vocal driven and having them pitched down gives this a very relaxed vibe that works well with chilled beats and synths.
The addition of a really outstanding remix by Canadian producer Kevin McPhee really does make this a strong second release on the label. Promos are already available at Juno and the digital release is available at Surus this week, with the full release available everywhere else on the 5th of December.

Featuring AMUS/2562
Dave Huismans has put out quite a lot of music since 2007 under many aliases and on a lot of great labels including Tectonic and 3024. His last couple of releases, however, were on his own new label When In Doubt as 2562 but he is back again as A Made Up Sound to deliver his last release of the year, Take The Plunge.
A Made Up Sound - Take The Plunge (Beats Mix) [forthcoming A Made Up Sound]
The "Beats Mix" of the title track is some serious techno-driven business accompanied by aggressive repeating synths that oscillate from left to right. Under this is some skipping beats, reminiscent of earlier AMUS releases, to help level out the synth movements. This is followed by a slightly off balance track called "Anger Mgmt" that has a bouncing bassline and a slightly broken yet on point break that pulls it along nicely. The third track is a beatless version of the title track to help you come down nice and slow.
Promos are already available on vinyl from Juno with full release on wax and digital set for December 7th.

George FitzGerald - Shackled EP
After starting his own label, Man Make Music, George FitzGerald is back with the Shackled EP for Scuba's Hotflush Recordings. The title track actually appeared recently on the Scuba: DJ Kicks album and gave us all a small preview of Fitzgerald's fifth release, his third on Hotflush.
For the EP, FitzGerald puts together three great tracks layered with sweeping pads, sharp keys and on point vocals snippets all bound together with his own brand of tight House beats.
Shackled EP - George FitzGerald [forthcoming Hotflush Recordings]
This EP is not to be missed and is set for release the first week in December on Hotflush. It will be available from all good music retailers including Juno.

Damu - Unity LP
In recent years Damu has been consistently up there with the best in the business and his unique sound has been hotly tipped in various quarters. His debut album is out now on Martin Clark’s Keysound Recordings, which follows acclaimed releases by LV & Joshua Idehen and Sully earlier this year. Damu has previously only had two physical releases, Ridin EP and Mermaid, so this 60 minute release is a big step for the producer.
Damu exemplifies his unique sound perfectly in Unity, with euphoric climaxes crashing together with vibrant and melodic beats to create a modern and experimental display. 'Ridin’ The Hype’ has to be the masterpiece of the album, with the diction of Trim solidifying the track with a deep and dark vibe. The majority of the tracks are bubbly garage stepping tunes like ‘L.O.V.E’ and ‘After Indigo’, but Damu also shows his depth and development in tracks such as ‘Maths is Fine For Sum’ and ‘Waterfall Of Light’, which gives more of a shuffling house sound, full of deep gear-changing shifts that keep you guessing.
Ridin' The Hype (feat. Trim) - Damu [Keysound Recordings]
Through this LP you can really see the development and progression that Damu has made as a producer. He shows knowledge of chord progression and structural sleight of hand that many of his peers would kill for and I am sure this producer will continue to shock in the future.

Unity was released on 17th October and is available via Juno etc.

HH MIX #026 - BEHLING & SIMPSON
Having recently converted from bass music, this duo have been making serious waves in the House scene after a decision to drop the tempo and try something new. Their relatively recent love for the space available at the lower bpms combined with the aid of the ever growing stronger Futureboogie Recordings has left Behling & Simpson lined up for a strong 2012. We had to get them on our series before it was too late!

Their debut solo release 'The Behling & Simpson EP' came out at the start of this month and is available to purchase from the likes of Juno etc. To support this release, 'Play Games' is available for free below.

Sepalcure - Sepalcure LP
It feels like Sepalcure have been around for ages so it seems a little surprising that their self-titled album, forthcoming on Hotflush Recordings, is actually only their fifth release. It really only was in the summer of 2010 that Travis Stewart and Praveen Sharma's debuted as Sepalcure and released the Love Pressure EP, seemingly from nowhere, blowing us all away. Together as Sepalcure and separately as Machinedrum and Braille, they have established themselves in the their native USA and here with releases on a variety of top labels including Planet Mu, Rush Hour, LuckyMe and of course Hotflush.
Since their debut we have seen the Fleur EP, the Love Pressure Remixed EP and most recently the Pencil Pimp LP Sampler all come out on Hotflush to great acclaim. These high quality releases really set the bar high and as you would expect there are high hopes for Sepalcure's debut album.
Sepalcure - Pencil Pimp / I'm Alright [Hotflush Recordings]
From the opening moment of 'Me' we are immediately treated to what we know as the trademark Sepalcure dance floor groover complete with a great swinging beat, smooth vocals and haunting synths. After that however, things do take a step forward in a really positive way as they explore and add other sounds and vibes to their music. The second track, "Pencil Pimp", is a perfect example of this, taking components from Classic House and Juke, including those choppy vocal hooks, and blending them with some more familiar, fairly haunting vocals, acoustic guitar and a really tight two step vibe.
After that their influences, highlighted with their own familiar style, bring the album to life and in a direction that is truly refreshing. You'll hear everything from chilled 808 vibes ("Eternally Yrs"), sun-drenched House ("See Me Feel Me"), Funky ("Hold On", "The One") and even some straight up Dubstep ("Yuh Na See") and everything in between as the exploration of the Sepalcure sound is fully expressed. In short, this is a great debut album and has enough depth and variety to warrant multiple listens.
The release date for Sepalcure is November 21st via Hotflush Recordings and is available on Vinyl, CD and digitally. Until then enjoy the flip from the sampler, 'I'm Alright' which was made available for free in the last week.

HH Alphabet T-shirt
We're super pleased to announce our second t-shirt of 2011. This time, our idea, but as usual we left the design down to the very capable Archie McLeish.
The t-shirts are printed on 'Ultra Cotton' to keep you warm during the cold months ahead and like normal we'll be letting you off postage if you reside in the UK. If you're feeling particularly cold, you might want to snap up one of the very limited black crew neck jumpers, which we promise, are worth every penny (there will be a small charge on these for the postage due to their weight).
Either hit one of the photos or click here to go to the shop.

Featuring MIDLAND
Midland is up to his old tricks. Despite his relative inexperience, his versatility has got people calling him a potential successor to Trentemøller... or is it Tensnake... even Four Tet? I forget. All I know is he probably wouldn't enjoy being called anyone's successor.
The youngster's two most recent remixes showcase his burgeoning talent - surely one of the house scenes go-to remix men of the moment. While 'Olson' is a slower, dreamier affair, 'Duvel' is quicker, more purposeful and has a delightfully sinister undertone. For very different occasions, and that is what makes Midland so great. If you haven't already done so, make sure you check out his own productions as well - he already boasts a highly impressive collection.

FaltyDL - Atlantis
NYC's Drew Lustman aka FaltyDL releases his debut EP, Atlantis, with Ninja Tune and it is a sonic journey across the electronic genre. This release expands the ever increasing list of top level labels he has appeared on or remixed for which currently includes Swamp81, Planet Mu, Ramp and Rush Hour.
It is quite clear that the influences that shape this release are from all across the board but you can feel the vibes of classic house and rave on the title track, "Atlantis". This followed by the great "Can't Stop The Prophet" which has that Ninja Tune sound layered with FaltyDL's signature vocal sample madness. The third track, "My Light My Love" takes you somewhere deep inside, with a sample constructed downtempo moment highlighting the variation of styles on show here. The EP closes with "The Sale Ends" which takes us back to the two-step vibes that really put FaltyDL on the map but with a very spaced out twist.
The EP is available digitally and on wax on November 14th from Juno.

GoldFFinch - Red Mask EP
Next week sees the second release from GoldFFinch, Red Mask EP, hot on the heels of last weeks Dirtybird EP for Airflex Labs. Although this is only the second release from the Belgian duo it is highly anticipated after appearing on Jackmaster's Numbers show on RinseFM all summer.
Red Mask - GoldFFinch [forthcoming Numbers]
The title track is a absolutely killer cut and infuses a little acid and electro into the mix to give the track a lot more depth and rhythm. The flip, "Ovale" is quite different however, obviously drawing on techno for its inspiration but in its most stripped back form and fused with some seriously sharp 808-styled beats.
Red Mask EP is set to be released on the 14th of November on vinyl and digitally on Numbers.

Cottam - Deep Deep Down EP
Cottam has described his most recent genre-foray as “sub-aquatic acid house”, a direction evident in his two most recent remixes for Morning Factory [20:20Vision] and Pattern Select [Delusions of Grandeur], as well as his 10-minute epic 'Sunrise Sunset EP'. Indeed, his latest offering definitely lacks the disco chug of some of his previous efforts, notably his fourth and second release. That is not to say, however, that it falls short in many or any other departments- least of all depth. For those who want the floor-filling Cottam of old back, fear not- just expect the floors to be full of slightly more serious folk.
The intro of A-side ‘Deep Deep Down' is full of ominously contrasting bass-synth and cowbell. The floating and haunting melody builds before being rudely awakened by a soaring saxophone. It all kicks off mid-way through the fourth minute as the snare gets involved. I hope you brought your flippers... this is about as sub-aquatic as it gets.
Deep Deep Down - Cottam [Aus]
The B-side, ‘Twang’, has a gloriously menacing bass riff that combines to tribal effect with the hi-hats. Chicago vocals are a nice touch and the sudden changes in intensity, despite the absence of a decisive snare throughout, are very effective. It's a tough call between two very nice tracks.
Twang - Cottam [Aus]

Ango - Another City Now EP
Another City Now is the debut EP from Ango aka Andrew Gordon Macpherson, the next big thing to step out of Monteal, Canada. Ango works closely with with other Candian producers Jacques Greene and Lunice, and has accompanied Jacques on his live European tour. His debut release came out on the 1st November on Scottish label Lucky Me.
This EP is a fusion of late 80’s pop, early 90’s house and contemporary R&B, which delivers a retro feel that’s fresh and vibrant. Ango is a writer and a producer and his 6 track EP is a lyrically polarised section of girl songs that express the way up and the way back down. This record is a fine balance of old and new, vintage but contemporary, upbeat but deep and delivers on every level.

HUSH THE FUCK UP (vol VI)
In April 2009 we dropped the first in this series, 35000 downloads later we're at volume 6. This time we've switched things up a little but not with the style of the mix, as usual, there's an eclectic range of different beats. Some gentle, some a little heavier, but hopefully you'll agree, all are a pleasure on the ears, whether it's in your lounge, kitchen, bedroom, on the road or in the club. Spread the love, tell your friends, burn CDs etc. Most of all, enjoy.

Equally exciting...is that you will be one of the first people able to grab one of our brand new t-shirts, designed in collaboration with Yoghurt Warrior. They're looking extremely fresh - more details to come very soon!
