Moomin has put out music with Hush House favourites Smallville, but releases a 3-track EP on his own newly made imprint Closer. The tone is deep and spacey with a real emphasis on intricate percussion and sultry chords. The method is a perfect balance of analogue machines and vinyl crackles from intricate sampling. Title track 'a day and a night' is the real standout.
There's a host of great releases by Moomin on Smallville and Aim, as well as mixes on his Soundcloud. It will be interesting to see whether Closer will just release Moomin records alone or look to release similar artists in the deep house domain. Either way, the label shows potential with a refreshing soulful release from the young German.
