Introducing CLASSICWORKS

Last month saw the second release on Barcelona based label, Classicworks, which is run by Venezuelan and Argentinian producers Cardopusher and Nehuen, respectively. After a successful split EP, Split 01, it is Cardopusher who steps out alone with the So What U Want Me To Do EP.

It is fairly obvious from the get go that the inspiration behind this EP comes from all areas of the electronic music scene. The opener 'I Know U Will' is a piano driven house affair with enough energy behind it to get anyone on the dance floor with its thumping beat. This is followed up with a rough techno thumper rooted firmly 90s hardcore with an infectious vocal hook which has landed it in the record bags of everyone from Bok Bok to Doc Daneeka.

Up next is 'The Real Thing' which harnesses a classic US house vocal and takes it on a acid trip across the Atlantic, really pushing the synths to the limit. Lastly is the the acid house number, 'Hysteria' which really does sound like something you would hear coming out of Boddika or Scuba set. Lastly for good measure there is a remix of 'I Know U Will' by label cohort Nehuen which gives it a bit more of a 90's flavour but takes away none of the energy.

The So What U Want Me To Do and Split 01 EPs are available from Juno.

Featuring TREVINO

Trading in drum & bass for twisted UK bass configurations has gone rather well for Marcus Intalex. Since April he’s churned out no less than three stand-out releases under his Trevino guise and his latest effort sees him scoring a fourth on Bristol's ever-reliable Apple Pips imprint.

'Indulge' continues his love of all things stateside, coming good with a serving of ice cold Detroit electro. It’s a slow-burning affair with a kicking 909 beat laying the groundwork for an impressive arsenal of vintage synth lines.

Indulge - Trevino [forthcoming Apple Pips]

Things get a bit darkside on the flip when 'Under Surveillance' trades in Drexciya for some dreadnaught DMZ stylings. There's still an acid tinge to proceedings but with the paranoia-inducing bass pressure of the best dubstep of yesteryear. Neither will raise the roof quite like Derelict or Lag, but both find Trevino exploring new sonic territory with the maturity you'd expect from a producer of his calibre.

Under Surveillance - Trevino [forthcoming Apple Pips]

Buy it now on vinyl and digital from Juno.

Featuring BODDIKA

Boddika returned strong this month with his first solo outing since last years Grand Prix for Naked Lunch. As much as this years earlier collaborations with Joy Orbison (Swims & Froth/Mercywere well received, to put it mildly, it is nice to see some well anticipated solo stuff get a release.

'Acid Jackson' has a fair helping of Boddika's own acidic style and by his standards is pretty upbeat. Sprinkled with a fair helping of electro vibes and cowbell, this is definitely for moving your body to. However, it is the darker of the two tracks, 'Basement', that really catches the attention with some seriously bass heavy 808 beats.

Acid Jackson - Boddika [Swamp81]

This is just the beginning though, with a remix 12" of 'Soul What' - slated for release around the summer on Swamp81 - from Mickey Pearce, a forthcoming release on Naked Lunch and according to Loefah there also an apparent Boddika LP in the pipeline.

Until then Acid Jackson / Basement is vinyl only on Swamp81 from all good record stores.

Boddika & Joy O - Swims

If you have been to any club in the UK or any dance festival across the planet this year you have heard "Swims" repeatedly. This Tronco Traxx sampling club banger is Boddika and Joy Orbison's first of a few forthcoming collaborations and is now finally getting a release on vinyl via Swamp81.

Swims - Boddika & Joy Orbison [forthcoming Swamp81]

Backed with a more chord driven 'Alt Mix' Swims is available for pre-order now and will get a full release later this month. Also, make sure you check out Boddika and Joy Orbison's other forthcoming tracks "Froth" and "Mercy" which are to be released sometime in the future.

Wednesday

Echo Park - Fiber Optic

Check out the latest release on Skream's Disfigured Dubz label from Echo Park. A proper electro-boogie selection with two remixes from Jon Convex and 12th Planet & Flinch.

The original mix is straight up baby making electro music with great vocals to accompany the 80's vibe. The 12th Planet & Flinch is quite forgettable but the Jon Convex remix is the one to watch for - taking the original down to its bones and giving the vocals a robotic, Barry White tip.

Echo Park - Fiber Optic [Disfigured Dubz]

Highly recommended to those who enjoyed the Instra:mental release on this label. Available now from Juno.

Remix something popular...

All of these, except one, are a few days old but all worth a listen if you haven't picked them up already. Warm those ears up for the special treat dropping later.

At first I wasn't sure whether I liked this tune but over the last couple of weeks it's been working it's way up the 'Recently Played' and is now lodged firmly at the top. Fever Ray leave the usual haunted feeling but R/D adds life with a glitchy electro beat and powerful synths.

I'm Not Done (R/D Remix) - Fever Ray

Everyone must know the original by now, DJ Madd takes it deeper than most with a earth shuddering sub line.

Hold The Line (DJ Madd Refix) - Major Lazer

If you saw us DJ last year, this tune was in nearly every set - especially those around Ipswich for obvious reasons. Geeks, originally from England but now living in Belgium deserves some recognition sometime soon. Go check the myspace for the other productions. We been holding on to this for time but now it's out... it's perfect for playing in a club that aren't into Dubstep or if there seems to be a lack of ladies on the floor.

Show Me Love VIP - Geeks & Sikey

Last but not least - George Lenton brings us another decent production in just a few days. This tune doesn't fit in line with the other tunes because it's not a remix of something popular. However, this doesn't matter. It's begging for you all to download it. Deep vibes crossed with bleepy electro synths blend into a unique hybrid sound.

Kerloo - George Lenton

Featuring KINGDOM

Kingdom has pricked my ears recently with his unique blend of styles. Funky/Electro/Techno/R&B, it's all there somewhere. This is where I think the American fidget scene is heading. Most of the tracks have female vocals, and all are supplemented with thumping beats underneath. US Funky? Definitely heavily influenced by the UK scene, working closely with the Night Slugs boys etc. Or maybe it's the other way around. I don't know! However, I know I like it...

United Groove (Kingdom Remix) - L-Vis 1990 [RUDEEE]

In celebration of his performance on the 5th of February as part of Fools Gold’s takeover of room two at Fabric, Kingdom has put together this promo mix for the occasion. Spanning genres from Funky to glitchy Electro-Tech, this one builds the hype for a big line up in their room.

Introducing FLOP HAUS

So there’s Zinc with his Crack House, now look, DZ is also on the house tip. I was intrigued as to where that name came from so asked the man himself...

"It's a lil sub-genre name - I know I don't make house, so I just called it 'FlopHaus'. I was in Ottawa - was always messy round 5pm on a Sunday. I get drunk and build house. Feels stupid where it originates from but 'haus' sounds geigh so I love it. Lol"

Not to do with stuff flopping? Dubstep flopping, you flopping to house music etc?!

"None man. Sooooooo many tunes bout to come out, there’ll be lots more on the blogs as well – Teddy’s making that happen for me now, well stoked he’s on board. I'm flopping to 4/4... haha"

So that was that. Nothing deep about it, just fancied a bit of a change on a Sunday. Some say the truth comes out when you're pissed...! Back to the point, here are the tunes. Bouncy drum beats with some nice whirring, grinding bass lines. Check them and stick em in your sets and mixtapes...

Asian Cuddle Puddle – DZ & Redeyz
Game Over - DZ
Drop Top – DZ

Now for those who prefer the Dubstep biz here’s a few new ones from the badman camp. The two remixes are nuts, haven’t got my head round them yet! This though, has Fugees vocals, and it’s a whole different story. Personal preference though innit.

Next – DZ [RUDEEE]

Keep Me Hangin On (DZ Remix) – The Supremes
Need You (DZ Remix) – Dylan & Ink

The Wu-Tang remix album was recently out, I think, and he’s got a couple of tracks on there so go hunt that down, think it’s on Amazon at least.

We make the crowd jump up...

Sick video, sick remix package, sick original and… Never Say Die are giving away the RackNRuin remix for free. Yes… for free! Big fan of this guy’s productions, thrown in an old one which meant to post ages ago as well. Those who know The Equalizers, this is one half of that duo banging out gritty, dirty, ravey breaksie electro stuff. His tune Skitzo VIP featured on the Orange Rockcorps advert a while ago.

Ruffneck 09 (RackNRuin Remix) – Crtl Z & The Freestylers
London Town (RackNRuin Remix) - Man Like Me

Check his releases on Beatport here.

Pirate that system...

Pirate Soundsystem have been up there with my favourite producers for a good couple of years now and I’m always excited to hear new stuff from them. The new stuff this time is an EP coming out in a couple of weeks on Coin Operated Records who have had the likes of Kanji Kinetic, L-Vis 1990, Squire of Gothos to name just a few. The EP is titled “Trip II London” which has four tracks, each to a different style but all based around ravey samples and big basslines. Ideal. It’s only a vinyl release at the moment but hopefully that’ll change.

The first track is an updated version of their Si Begg remix which we featured in this post - there’s an interview there too for those who don’t know. It’s been mastered and the bassline fattened up to make it an even bigger banger than before. They’ve treated you readers well, again, by making you the first on the internet to have this track, it’s got samples from a few tunes but mainly Tiga’s Mind Dimension. Enjoy.

01. Trip II London
02. Get Your Heads Out
03. Think I’m Ready
04. My Dimension

Make sure all you twitterers go follow them at http://twitter.com/piratesoundsys for updates and stuff.

Incredibly Soft EP

I’ve been keeping my eye on The Living Graham Bond ever since he won AC Slater’s Hello remix competition back towards the start of the year. His unique, fresh, bassliney jackin’ house style has caught my attention and I’m getting quite addicted his tunes.

Firstly, I’ve had his B Rich remix on repeat on the myspace player for the last couple of months – it slipped under my radar that Palmsout had announced the winners of the competition. This came a very graceful second and I’m very happy to be able to share it with you lot. That hook in there, well… it just makes me want to dance. Get it on repeat (and loud) and you’ll see what I mean. I need an extended version!

Make Me Dance (TLGB Remix) – B.Rich [RUDEEE]

After a busy few months not just with his production but some big bookings too, he is properly set to break into the big game with his debut EP on Venga Digital. “Incredibly Soft” is the title track and my favourite on the release. Clever vocals, chopped to perfection with innovative drum patterns, progression and breaks. The bouncy basslines make a perfect accompaniment to give a fresh blend of Fake Blood crossed with Mowgli - each tune has a well thought-out structure and rhythmic feel.

"Great songs. Excellent productions and nice and quirky. Love all the little vocal samples. Gets my support." - Lee Mortimer

"Nom De Strip remix is a rockin mix" - Malente

"Nom De Strip Remix = SICK DROP SICK DROP SICK DROP" - Mightyfools

"Great EP, all tracks are wicked. Production spot on, nice remix from Chris aswell :)" - Calvertron

"Nice solid EP. Good work." - AC Slater

For more previews of the release check here but if you want something in length then don’t miss out on this mix. You can catch TLGB DJing at Corsica Studios this Thursday (29th October) or at The Egg for the launch party on the 6th November.

07. Brodinski & Mumdance - Eurostarr (Zombie Disco Squad Remix)
08. TLGB - Ransom

Definitely a talent with oozing potential – watch out for his name plastered everywhere not too soon in the future. The rest of his free tracks are in this post.

(My laptop is not in working order so I’m sorry for the scarce posts)

Introducing SDUK

Sduk has been causing a fuss with the Emalkay remix which we posted a couple of weeks ago - now we have something for you all to get even more excited about. Heavily influenced by Joker, Gemmy, Guido & Ginz his original productions need some attention, I have yet to hear them on a big system but I can only imagine the huge tropical hypnotic synth lines will go down a treat. No hesitation on whether to download this or not, get familiar, this 17 minute-long dubplates mix shows a lot of potential...

Jack that beat...

Been busy innit. Sorry!

Haven't posted any of this kinda music for a while - it's good to have a break and slow the bpm sometimes. Been waiting for this to drop - definitely my favourite Jack Beats tune of late.

Drumming Song (Jack Beats Remix) - Florence & The Machine

Have posted a couple of tracks by these guys before - GreenMoney are innovative and exciting producers who deserve to be getting more hype than they are.

Baltic Pine (GreenMoney's Baltic Porn Bootleg) - Boy 8-Bit
Tie Me Down (GreenMoney Dub) - Sibley

We featured Raffertie back here but he's been all over the place this year and next year I'm sure will see plenty more gigs and plenty more good productions. His sound is definitely maturing, when I first heard one of his tunes (I think it was a Rihanna remix about 2 years ago) it was the weirdest thing I'd heard and I hated it! Big sound on this one...

Dancing On Our Tongues (Raffertie Remix) - Wild Beasts

I don't rate Drums of Death but with a little bit of Starkey's reworking this track is listenable now. I'm sure this will appeal to a few of you out there.

Got Yr Thing (Starkey Remix) - Drums of Death

This dropped in our inbox a while ago so I reckon it might be old news for a few of you but those who haven't stumbled across it, Udachi & Jubilee's Paypur EP has some big tracks on it (Smoke Rings) so get over here and spend those pennies.

Paypur - Udachi & Jubilee
Bitchy Skills (Udachi Remix) - Costello

Lastly, big tune from AC Slater - can he do no wrong?!

100mph (AC Slater Remix) - Juiceboxxx [RUDEEE]

All those waiting for posts who I've said I'd post - just send a reminder email. All those people who haven't had a reply - keep producing and get in touch in a few months.

Anyone still after a t-shirt but the size is sold out? Email us - if there's enough response we'll get some more done. There's been quite a bit interest in the jumpers? You seen them about?!

Tuesday

Fresh JAYOU!

By now the name JAYOU should well embedded in your minds and if it isn't then watch out cos the future holds some exciting stuff. A collaboration with one of the biggest names in the industry, forthcoming dates supporting the likes of 16bit, Major Lazer and Stenchman, whilst also being managed by two of the best managers in England. He's a lucky boy but... he's not the only lucky one - you readers are the first in the whole world to hear his new beats. Check them...

Zub - JAYOU
I Can't Wait (JAYOU Remix) - Kenneth Bager

Sunday

Take my hand and fly away...

*insert some ballshit about what I've done this weekend which no one cares about and some more ballshit about how many beers I've drank this weekend which also no one cares about*

Love Long Distance (Fake Blood Remix) - The Gossip

I'm Not Your Toy (Data Remix) - La Roux

Set Me Free (High Rankin Remix) - Phonat
Set Me Free (Avicii Remix) - Phonat

Thursday

Introducing JEUCE

These boys from Leeds/Herts, who go under the name of Jeuce are about to cause a stir with their forthcoming releases. They've already had support from Andy George & Jaymo on one of their original tracks and I'm sure there'll be more radio play in the near future. They fuse electro/disco/dubstep together to create a bouncy hybrid sound. Those who are A1 Bassline fans, I'm sure you'll dig these reworks.

Hurricane Rework - Synth Girl [forthcoming Gash Digital]
Bass Comes In Rework - Jacob Plant [forthcoming CR2 Records]

This one is more on the electro tip but definitely bumps along nicely with some big euphoricy breaks, some of you may have picked this up from here a while ago.

Tomorrow Rework - Ladytron [Netwerk]

There's a live set so if you see a local event I'm sure it'd be an entertaining show. Check the myspace for the dates and a few more tunes.

Wednesday

Time for some...

I know the posts have been pretty scarce this month, not really sure why. Too much going out n stuff maybe. This should make up for it though. Lotsa tunes for you to party to, chill to, mix with, lose your mind to and generally do what you normally do with music. Listen and enjoy? Yeh that's what most people do.

First I have a couple of tunes which follow in the footsteps of Enigma's remix of Imogen Heap which seemed to go down so well. That track has been spread across the internet and had lotsa love all round so here's a couple more.

Ha Ha (Bassleak Remix) - Emiliana Torrini [youtube]
Headlock (PK Bootleg) - Imogen Heap
Lost - Slof Man [RUDEEE]

What's happened to all proper beats and heavy shit, it's been replaced by melodies and female vocals you might be thinking. Yeh, well, that's just what I'm in the mood for at the moment. For those that are pining for the other stuff... here you are. Two new producers with some filth.

Fail - Druley
Waking Up On Cloud 9 - Billy

This one take's a little while to drop but when it does, can imagine it to be pretty alright on a big system.

Callous - DZ & Redeyz

Saw Gentleman's Dub Club the other day and they were really impressive, as someone's said before, I'd have them play at my wedding. We heard from HavocNdeeD back in this post. This ones on the Dub Reggae tip, I dig lots.

Exodus (HavocNdeeD Remix) - Bob Marley

Zinc's been in the House game for a little while now. His latest Crack House mix has just come out which you can pick up here. This track has been released as part of the build up to Rinse's 15th Birthday. Not sure about the lyrics but nevermind.

All Your Base (Feat. Aloe Blacc) - Zinc

Now on the electro ish front, got a new one from one of our favourites, Foamo and another not so new from another favourite Stupid Fresh. Get the fuck up.

I'm In Love (Foamo Remix) - Dub Pistols
Twist (Stupid Fresh Remix) - Shab Ruffcut

And lastly, not sure how well this one will go down round this parts as it's the first of it's kind that I've posted. Anyone feeling this new Funky biz? I'm not so sure about it yet but this track is alright nonetheless. I'm so fly I feel like I'm skydiving. Quite catchy.

Skydiving (GreenMoney In Tha Sky Remix) - Twizzle

BONUS: Killin It - B Rich

Friday

Introducing TLGB

I was in a really bad mood/tired after work today and not really up for a Friday night out but after listening to these four tracks from The Living Graham Bond I am quite literally Ready For The Weekend. I first heard of this guy when he won the AC Slater Hello remix competition due to the fact that his track is completely different from the original and very bright and bubbly. Check it.

Hello! (TLGB Remix) - AC Slater

I wanted to introduce him properly, unfortunately the emails kinda fizzled out a while ago but after discovering from his myspace that a few other remixes were on blogs I thought it's time for a post! Happy bouncy bubbly basslines for when you need a break from the normal heaviness. The "You're Not Alone" track has been given another life...

Tonight's Today (TLGB Remix) - Jack Penate
You're Not Alone (TLGB Remix) - Olive
Music Sounds Better With You (TLGB Remix) - Stardust

His first release "Just Getting Started" was on Venga's Made In 2010 compilation so pop over to Beatport and support a very worthy cause. Watch out and have a lovely weekend, be it at Latitude or Glade or whatever else is going on.
